Description
Under globalization, our next generation
is faced with challenges of a cross-cultural and cross-regional
nature. In a world with dwindling resources and where people are
becoming more anxious about living, our fate is increasingly determined
by our characters. It is, therefore, important for parents to double
efforts in attending to their children's living and learning
while nurturing their global perspectives and positive characters;
parents should provide their children with care and guidance at
their various stages of growth.
Walk This World with My Children—Parenting
Under Globalization is the companion book for parents in the
contemporary world to master effective parenting strategies, enabling
them to
face the challenges of globalization together with their children.
The author, Ms. Kam Oi-ping, serves as the Principal of the International
Kindergarten of the 75-year-old Yew Chung. She has contributed
in recent years to various newspapers and educational magazines
drawing on her rich experience of more than 20 years in nurturing
young children. Her writings have won high acclaim and are collected
and re-arranged into this book of three sections—"Parents",
"Learning" and "Living".
Topics range from the practices of early childhood education theories
to the steps of operating games and activities. The rich and practical
discussions aim at offering parents or would-be parents insights
into child rearing and parenting.
